BD, Myanmar fisheries assocs sign agreement to boost trade ties

Leaders from the fishery sectors of Bangladesh and Myanmar have teamed up to promote trade ties and market expansion of the fisheries industries of the two countries.
The Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association (BFFEA) and the Myanmar Fishery Products Processors and Exporters Association (MPEA) signed an agreement at the BFFEA office in Dhaka on Tuesday, aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation.
BFFEA President Muhammad Shahjahan Chowdhury and Aung Naing, representing MPEA, signed the agreement, according to a press statement.
The agreement will pave the way for enhanced business relations between the two nations.
The collaboration will include exchange of industry-related policies, standards and market information, trade fairs, visits of business delegations, training programmes and efforts to improve food safety and product quality.
A five-member MPEA delegation, led by Aung Naing, is currently visiting Bangladesh and held a meeting with BFFEA leaders.
The meeting focused on opportunities for mutual cooperation, trade growth, information exchange, and market expansion. Both sides also discussed skill development and strategies for strengthening the fisheries industries in their countries.
The meeting was attended by several senior BFFEA leaders, including Vice Presidents Md Tariqul Islam Zahir, Sheikh Kamrul Alam, Dodul Kumar Dutta, and Directors Md Jalal Uddin, Syed Badruzzaman, AKM Fazlul Haque, former President Md Amin Ullah, former Director Shyamal Das.
