Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali said Wednesday the Bangladesh-Myanmar Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) will be held in Dhaka next month, reports UNB.
"A secretary-level meeting between Bangladesh and Myanmar will be held next month," he said while talking to reporters after a meeting with Deputy Commissioners (DCs) as part of the DCs' conference at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
Myanmar has reportedly proposed the third week of August as a tentative time to hold the meeting which was originally scheduled to be held in June.
The minister said talks with Myanmar on various issues, including Rohingya, are on as the communication between the two countries has been strengthened.
He said discussions on establishing road and rail communication with Myanmar are also going on.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam was also present.
In a separate briefing, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Engineer Khondkar Mosharraf Hossain said the government is fully prepared to repatriate Bangladeshis from war-hit Iraq, if the situation demands.
"But there's no such situation to get panicked. No one is in danger," said the Minister when his comment was sought on the Iraq situation.
