Bangladesh has one of the largest national web portals in the world by connecting its 25 thousand departments, says Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu. The minister was speaking as the chief guest at an award-giving ceremony in the city. Explaining the government's ICT policy, Inu said the government wants to build a prosperous country and transparency through the Net is the key. About the political implications of Information Communication Technology (ICT), Inu said it was important that all people have some awareness of the technology. He felt that access to the Net would not only bring transparency to government work but also rout militancy and fundamentalism. The minister said the national web portal, www.bangladesh.gov.bd, would give people access to a rich treasure trove of information, according to BSS.
