BD per capita loan stands at about Tk 12,700

Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Thursday said each citizen of Bangladesh carries foreign loan of nearly Tk 12,700 (US $162.2). The amount of foreign credit taken by Bangladesh on June 30 last year was Tk 1951.46 billion (US$24,907 million), he told Parliament replying to a starred question from Ayen Uddin MP of Rajshahi-3. In the 2012-13 fiscal year, Bangladesh paid some Tk 21.48 billion against the interest of the foreign loans, while paid back Tk 275.45 billion as principal amount from the loans, according to a news agency.
