BD reports 36 Covid cases in a day, no deaths

Bangladesh has recorded 36 new cases of COVID-19 in a day, taking the overall tally of infections to 1,951,903, reports bdnews24.com.
The government did not register any fatality in the 24-hour count and the death toll from the disease remained unchanged at 29,123, according to the latest data released on Wednesday.
As many as 5,916 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 0.61 percent.
Among the eight divisions, Dhaka recorded the highest number of cases, with 26 infections.
Another 785 people recovered from the illness nationwide, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,886,036.
The latest figures put the recovery rate at 96.63 percent and the mortality rate at 1.49 percent.
Globally, over 493.74 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 6.15 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
According to agencies, the overall number of Covid cases has surged past 493 million amid a rise in new infections in parts of the world.
According to Johns Hopkins University (JHU), the total case count mounted to 493,604,859 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,158,583 Wednesday morning.
The US has recorded 80,208,810 cases so far and 982,576 people have died from the virus in the country, the university data shows.

Meanwhile, Brazil, which has been experiencing a new wave of cases since January last year, registered 30,042,272 infections as of Wednesday, while its Covid death toll rose to 660,786.
