BD seeks Tokyo\\\'s support for tunnel under Jamuna

Bangladesh has sought support from Japan to set up a tunnel beneath the Jamuna River and construct the Dhaka Eastern Bypass. Road and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader came up with the request while speaking at a meeting with Japan-Bangladesh Parliamentary Friendship League in Tokyo on Monday. Obaidul Quader thanked the Japanese government’s commitment to provide financial support to Bangladesh for the implementation of a proposed metro rail project, Kachpur Bridge 2, Meghna Bridge 2 and Gomati Bridge 2, and hoped that it will continue its support to Bangladesh in the future as well. Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Masud Bin Momen was, among others, present at the meeting, according to a news agency.
