BD sees one death, 44 Covid cases

Bangladesh reported one death from Covid-19 and 44 new virus cases on Monday. The figures were zero and 42 respectively on Sunday.
With the latest daily counts, the total fatalities from Covid-19 reached 29,124 in the country - since the virus was detected here in March 2020, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Some 6,234 samples were tested during the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on Monday, against 6,336 samples collected during the period.
The Covid-19 test positivity rate was recorded at 0.71 per cent on the day, which was slightly down from the previous day's 0.80 per cent, the DGHS data revealed.
On the other hand, a total of 590 people recovered from coronavirus infection in the country during the last 24-hour reporting time. The rate of recovery was 96.78 per cent.
The rate of fatalities from coronavirus remained static at 1.49 per cent.
According to the official data, the total Covid-19 caseloads exceeded 1.95 million in Bangladesh, and nearly 1.89 million of them recovered from the deadly disease.
Meanwhile, over 13.89 million samples were tested here since March 2020.
