BD signs deal with EU to create job scopes aboard foreign ships

The government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the European Union (EU) for the acceptance of the certificates of Bangladesh to increase job opportunities for the country's sailors in foreign ships.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Shipping Ministry was informed this at its 50th meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Sunday, reports BSS.
Earlier, MoUs were signed with 29 countries including Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom on this issue, according to an official handout. Presided over by Standing Committee Chairman Major (Retd) Rafiqul Islam, the meeting was attended by committee members Talukder Abdul Khaleq, Md Nurul Islam Sujan, Md Habibur Rahman, M Abdul Latif, Ranjit Kumar Roy and Advocate Momtaj Begum.
The meeting was told that steps have been taken to ink MoUs with different countries for the acceptance of the certificates of Bangladesh across the globe to increase job opportunity in foreign ships of Bangladeshi sailors.
