Thursday, 30 January 2014

Hosts Bangladesh suffered a humiliating an innings and 248 runs defeat against touring Sri Lanka in the first test of two-match series that concluded an hour after the lunch on the 4th day at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday. This is the 2nd biggest ever test win by an innings for the Sri Lankan Lions as Bangladesh still 248 runs short of making the visitors to bat again in the 2nd innings. An innings deficit of 498 was demoralizing enough for Bangladesh to capitulate without a fight, and there was no stoic resistance from them to take the game to the fifth day. Sri Lankan Lions narrowly missed their biggest innings victory of 254 runs against Zimbabwe 10 years ago, according to a news agency.
