BD supports two-state solution to Israel-Palestine conflict
FE REPORT | Monday, 9 October 2023
Bangladesh denounced on Sunday the ongoing armed conflict between Israel and Palestine and deplored the resultant loss of innocent civilian lives and injuries to victims.
Bangladesh underlined that escalation of conflicts and violence benefited no party, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
"We urge both Israeli and Palestinians to exercise maximum restraint and call for an immediate ceasefire to avoid further loss of innocent lives on both sides".
Bangladesh believed that living under the Israeli occupation and forced settlements in the Palestinian territory would not bring peace in the region, the statement added.
"Therefore, Bangladesh supports a two-state solution, Palestine and Israel, living side by side as independent states free of occupation following the UN Resolution Nos. 242 and 338, which can bring lasting peace and stability in the region".
Bangladesh also urged all parties concerned to refrain from excessive and indiscriminate use of force in the conflict and reiterated that only dialogue and diplomacy could lead to a lasting solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict and Bangladesh called upon all parties to work towards that end.
