BD to coordinate LDCs in global climate confce

Bangladesh has been entrusted with the task of coordinating the least developing countries (LDCs) in the global climate conference being held in Lima, Peru. Secretary of the Ministry of Forest and Environment M Nazibur Rahman, who is now attending the conference in the South American country, termed it as a special recognition for Bangladesh to get responsibility of coordinating the LDCs group, according to a message received in Dhaka on Wednesday night. On the 2nd day of the conference being hosted by the government of Peru, he said, Bangladesh is giving priority on how to get the highest benefit from different funds being created under climate diplomacy there. The conference lauded gender work plan formulated by Bangladesh and Senegal supported the plan after it was placed before the CMP, Rahman said. He said all government and private representatives are attending the 12-day conference that began on December 1. They will sit together on Thursday for making Bangladesh’s presence in the climate conference more effective than before, according to a news agency.
