BD to get jute genome IP right by mid-2012

Bangladesh is going to attain intellectual property (IP) right on genome sequence of jute by the middle of 2012, a senior official said, reports BSS. "We are going to get jute genome intellectual property right by the middle of next year," he said. Getting the intellectual property right will help the country regain the golden age of jute and make its cultivation possible in the drought-prone northern region, fallow land and salinity-hit areas.
