BD to host next D-8 summit in April

Its secretary wants SEZ for its member states

Bangladesh will host the 10th D-8 summit in the third week of April 2020, report agencies.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave the hint when visiting D-8 Secretary General Ambassador Jaafar Ku Shaari met her at her office.
PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting.
Launched in 1997, the Developing-8 Organisation for Economic Cooperation (D-8) is an economic organisation for economic development and cooperation among its member countries-Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey.
Bangladesh will take over the charge of the next D-8 chairmanship at the Dhaka Summit.
Shaari proposed allocation of a special economic zone (SEZ) in Bangladesh exclusively for D-8 member countries. While the premier responded positively, saying "We are currently setting up 100 special economic zones (and) land can be provided from the zones for the D-8 member countries".
Sheikh Hasina thanked the D-8 secretary general for his dynamic leadership and introducing innovative ideas, making tireless efforts to make the organization visible and building partnership among the member countries.
