BD to join second submarine cable

Bangladesh will be connected with the second submarine cable having a total capacity of 1,400 Gbps (Gigabit per second), by early 2016, said officials. They said Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BSCCL) which is responsible for maintenance of the submarine cable is going to sign a deal next month with a consortium of 17 countries to set up the SEA-ME-WE 5 cable as an alternative source of bandwidth. — BSS
