BD to play Malaysia in opener Jan 29

Bangladesh will play Malaysia in the opening match of the six-nation Bangabandhu Gold Cup International Football Tournament at Sylhet District Stadium on January 29, reports UNB.
Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) on Monday officially announced the fixture of the 3rd edition of Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football Tournament alongside releasing the 12 subcommittees for the mega event, named after father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Earlier, hosts Bangladesh was put in Group A along with Malaysia and Sri Lanka while Bahrain, Singapore and Thailand in Group B.
In the group matches, Singapore will play Thailand on January 30 while Malaysia will meet Sri Lanka on January 31, both at Sylhet District Stadium.
The remaining group matches will be held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) in Dhaka with Bahrain taking on Singapore on February 1, Bangladesh playing against Sri Lanka on February 2 and Thailand facing Bahrain on February 3, all at 5 pm (Bangladesh Times).
After a recess on February 4, the first semifinal between Group A champions and Group B runners-up will be held on February 5 at Sylhet District Stadium while the 2nd semifinal between Group B champions and Group A runners-up is billed for February 6 at BNS.
The final match will be held on February 8 at 5pm at the BNS.
Channel 9 will telecast all the matches live.
Meanwhile, the BFF has announced the 12 subcommittees for smoothly holding the Bangladesh's prestigious international soccer meet, approved by FIFA and AFC.
The committees with the names of chairmen: Alhaj Shamsul Haque Chowdhury, MP (Ceremonies Committee), Tabith Awal (Reception, Protocol, Liaison, Accommodation and Transport Committee), Amirul Islam Babu (Media and Accreditation Committee), Fazlur Rahman Babul (Grounds Committee), Prof Dr Faruq Reza Awlad (Medical Committee), Kazi Nabil Ahmed MP (Souvenir Committee), Mesbahuddin (Disciplinary Committee), Sheikh Mohammad Aslam (Gate Management & Seating Arrangement Committee), Badal Roy (Referee Committee), Harun-ur-Rashid (Prize & Gift Committee), Abdus Salam Murshedy (Finance & Ticketing Committee) and Sheikh Mohammad Maruf Hasan (Security and Traffic Management Committee).
