BD wants to set example removing gander gap

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali said Saturday Bangladesh wants to set an example to the world removing gender gap in decision-making positions.
“We’re all aware of the gender gap in decision-making positions around the world. Bangladesh wants to set an example to the world to this end,” he said mentioning that proper inputs, determination and earnest efforts can help address the issue.
The Foreign Minister made the remark while addressing the second convocation of the Asian University for Women (AUW) in Chittagong, said a Foreign Ministry media release, according to a news agency.
AUW Vice Chancellor Dr Fahima Aziz, diplomats from different countries and Trustee Members of the University were present.
Mahmood said the AUW is contributing to Bangladesh’s efforts to advance intercultural understanding and cooperation having a rich international studentship.
“At AUW, women from 16 countries, including Bhutan and Nepal, two countries where I served as Ambassador, have been obtaining world-class education that expands beyond textbooks,” he added.
The Foreign Minister mentioned that Bangladesh has been making forward movements in recent times. “It has not only maintained a robust economy but also has taken care of its citizens.”
