Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) militants, suspected for murder of several progressive bloggers, are trying to carry their offensive to foreign shores, reports bdnews24.com.
Progressive blogger Omar Farooq Lux, now a German citizen, told the news agency Tuesday that he had been alerted by German Criminal Police about Ansarullah Bangla's plans to attack him.
"The German criminal police have asked me to change my residence because they have inputs that the Ansarullah Bangla militants have a clear idea about my present location," Omar Farooq Lux said.
He said the German police told him that some UK-based Islamic fundamentalists were helping the Ansarullah Bangla Team to infiltrate a hit-squad into the country to attack him.
Farooq, a sculptor and a passionate blogger, has now been provided with round-the-clock security by German police.
Omar Farooq Lux, a former student of sculpture at the Dhaka University, has almost 12,000 followers on Facebook.
For his blogs and Facebook postings, Omar Farooq Lux has been regularly threatened with death.
A few months ago, a BUET student Shafiqul Islam, upset with his social media activism, threatened over Facebook to kill Omar Farooq Lux in Germany.
The Ansarullah Bangla Team is suspected for murders of several progressive bloggers and online activists in Bangladesh this year.
