B'desh sees a huge surge of returning migrants in 5 yrs

The rate of Bangladeshi migrant workers returning home from different job destination countries has been increasing over the last five years, according to the latest data of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
Three out of every 1,000 migrant workers returned home from abroad in 2022, while this rate was 1.9 in 2021, 1.8 in 2020, 1.9 in 2019 and 1.7 in 2018.
On the other hand, the rate of outgoing Bangladeshi workers has increased in the last five years, according to the BBS's Sample Vital Registration System (SVRS) data, unveiled on Tuesday.
The outflow doubled as the data showed some 6.6 Bangladeshis out of every 1,000 found jobs in the international market in 2022. The rate was 3.0 in 2021, 1.5 in 2020, 2.9 in 2019 and 2.4 in 2018.
