Bangladesh Monday proposed to buy rock-phosphate fertiliser and crude oil from Iran, and Tehran agreed on the deals, reports UNB.
Foreign Minister Dipu Moni gave the proposal during a meeting with Iranian Ambassador Hassan Farazandeh, a Foreign Ministry release said.
The Foreign Minister said, "Bangladesh is an investment-friendly country in South Asia and welcomes investment from Iran."
The Ambassador said bilateral trade between Dhaka and Tehran increased last year. "Iran considers Bangladesh as an important state and attaches great importance to the relation with this country."
Dipu Moni also had a meeting with Turkish Ambassador Sakin Ozkan Torunlar, discussing political, economic and military cooperation between Bangladesh and Turkey.
The envoy told the Foreign Minister that Ankara has increased 50 per cent scholarship for Bangladeshi students. He also invited the Foreign Minister to attend the Alliance of Civilization conference in Turkey.
