Monday, 2 November 2009

The 24th Asia-Pacific Regional (APR) Scout Conference will be held in the capital city in 2012 as Bangladesh Scouts won the bid to be the host beating Thailand and Indonesia in an open voting held in Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur Saturday, reports UNB.
"This news brightened Bangladesh's image to the rest of the countries of the World", said a Bangladesh Scouts official.
A 34-member delegation of Bangladesh Scouts participated in the 23rd Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Conference in the Malaysian capital from October 27-31.
Chief National Commissioner of Bangladesh Scouts and Power Secretary Abul Kalam Azad led the delegation.
The Bangladesh delegation is expected to return home today (Monday).
It might be noted that the APR Scout Conference is held every three years. APR Scouts consist of 23 member countries and its regional headquarters is in Manila, Philippines.
