BDR Biponon Kendra gaining popularity in B'baria

BRAHMANBARIA, July 2, 2007: Biponon Kendra led by Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) is gaining popularity day by day in the towns of the district.
Under the programme, BDR opened the sales centre at the premises of Poura Mukta Mancha to provide essential commodities for general people at a fair price.
Vegetable, rice, flour, edible oil and other commodities were selling at fixed prices. Rice per kg is being sold at Tk 18, flour at Tk 25, sugar at Tk 29, onion at Tk 19.50, garlic at Tk 40, lentil at Tk 63, edible oil at Tk 72 and salt at Tk 9, BDR sources said.
A large number of poor people and day labourers, male and female were seen purchasing essential commodities everyday in a queue from the BDR Biponon Kendra.
