RANGPUR, Nov 11 (BSS): Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) agreed Tuesday to ensure sustainable peace along common borders through mutual cooperation and resolve all bi-lateral border issues through dialogue.
The two neighbouring border guards also reiterated the commitment of the two neighbouring countries to further improve the overall border management and ensure tension-free peaceful atmosphere along the common frontiers, official sources said.
The BSF side also expressed their 'deep sorrows' over the recent killings of a number of Bangladeshi nationals on the frontiers under Dinajpur sector of the BDR by the BSF and assured the BDR that such tragic and painful incidents would not recur in the future.
The agreements were reached at the Sector Commanders and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) level flag meeting held on the Binantpur Primary School premises inside India opposite to Giragaon BDR outpost in Atoari Upazila of Panchagarh.
BDR Sector Commanders Colonel Saleh Ahmed of Dinajpur Sector and Colonel Mohammad Khairuzzaman of Rangpur Sector led the 10-member BDR delegation, while the 10-number BSF delegation was led by DIG of Kishanganj BSF Sector Farid Khan.
