BDR carnage probe needs more time: Faruq

Saturday, 21 March 2009

Commerce Minister and Chief Coordinator of investigations of the carnage at BDR headquarters Lt Col (retd) Faruq Khan Friday said the government needs more time for fair investigation into the BDR tragedy, report UNB and BSS.
"The probe into the BDR mutiny is going on in full swing and a little more time may be needed to complete it in the interest of unbiased investigation," he said.
Replying to a question about the time limit of investigation of the probe committees, he said it is not proper to make hurry in case of such a massive incident. In this regard he said, "Justice hurried, justice buried."
Earlier, the government extended the time twice for the probe committee on the BDR carnage.
Faruq made the remarks to reporters after attending a children's programme organised by the Bangladesh Children Theatre Federation on the Shishu Academy premises to mark the World Children's Theatre Day.
The minister also said many persons, who were involved in the February 25-26 BDR mutiny, have been arrested and important information has been unearthed about the carnage.
Reiterating the government's commitment, Faruq Khan said the government is determined to track down the masterminds behind the BDR incident and give them exemplary punishments.
