BDR seize smuggled cloths

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Aug 28 (UNB): The troops of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) seized 50 bales of smuggled cloths worth about Tk 25 million from Kamlakondopur area under Shibganj Upazila Monday.
Sources said acting on a tip-off 39 BDR battalion conducted a raid in the area and seized the Indian cloths, including sari, three-pieces and other fabrics.
Sensing the presence of BDR, the smugglers managed to escape from the spot abandoning the cloths.
BDR sources the cloths were brought from India and the smugglers were preparing to send those smuggled items to Dhaka by a truck.
