Be a leader yourself
Wednesday, 29 July 2015
As leaders make assessments about their followers, so do the followers assess the competence of their leaders at some point of time or other. In our country, nobody wants to be a leader. In stead they choose leaders and want to be led by them.
Most people want to be employed and very few choose to be self-employed. They never, even by mistake, nurture the idea of starting something on their own and flourish. In our country, there are several examples of leaders who began humbly and later became examples of rare successes in their respective areas. Dr. Mohammad Yunus is one of them. He founded the Grammen Bank in a small village of Chittagong and eventually stole the headlines in world media.
Now Dr. Yunus is widely known and acclaimed across the world and has become a household name in many countries. Hundreds of thousands of poor people are being benefited by the bank. Starting from Jobra village in the humblest possible way, the Grameen Bank has now developed into a massive organization and is being replicated in different countries of the world under the able leadership of Dr. Mohammad Yunus. Dr. Yunus became an international personality all by himself. He did not need a leader to make him what he is today. My humble advice is, do not wait for a leader, be a leader yourself.
