Be equipped with modern technology to face challenges: Geetiara

Industries, Textile and Jute Adviser Geetiara Safiya Chowdhury Thursday urged the textile sector entrepreneurs to be equipped with modern and developed technology for facing the hard challenges under the quota-free regime, reports UNB.
She was speaking as the chief guest of the inaugural session of 'TexTec Bangladesh 2007 International Expo' at the Bangladesh China Friendship Centre in the city Thursday.
Conference and Exhibition Management Services Limited (CEMS), USA arranged the exhibition in cooperation with CEMS Bangladesh.
Three fairs - 8th TexTec Bangladesh 2007 International Expo, 4th MachinExpo Bangladesh 2007 and Dhaka International Fabric Show 2007 - are being held together as the TexTec Bangladesh 2007 International Expo.
Adviser Geeteara urged all to work together to utilise modern technology in textile and garments industry for accelerating development in the sector.
She thanked the organisers of the exhibition, and expressed optimism that they would continue such initiatives in the future.
Later, the Adviser inaugurated the fair, and went round different stalls. CEMS President Meherun N Islam presided over the function.
The organisers said 99 entrepreneurs from around the globe have set up over 375 stalls in the fair to display their products.
The fair will continue up to July 29.
