BEA confce begins today

The three-day 17th biennial conference of Bangladesh Economic Association (BEA) begins in the city today (Thursday).
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the conference at Osmani Memorial Auditorium, while Finance Minister AMA Muhith will be present as the special guest, reports UNB.
The main theme of the conference is: Economy of the golden jubilee of Liberation War: What type of Bangladesh we want?
Three eminent persons will be honoured with BEA award at the inaugural session. They are: Dr Swadesh Ranjan Bose (posthumous), SAMS Kibria (posthumous) and Bazlur Rahman (posthumous).
Three memorial lectures will also be delivered after the inaugural session. Eminent educationist Dr Anisur Rahman will deliver SR Bose memorial lecture, while SAMS Kibria memorial lecture will be delivered by former governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr Mohammad Farashuddin and Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman will deliver Bazlur Rahman memorial lecture.
About 90 articles will be presented at the three-day conference on different subjects. Besides, there will be open discussions.
