Beach cricket carnival on in Cox's Bazar

COX'S BAZAR, Oct 28 (BSS): The second AB Bank Citycell WECCA (Weekend Cricket Club Association) Beach Cricket kicked off amidst great enthusiasm among the locals in the beach town of Cox's Bazar Thursday.
Minister for Information and Cultural Abul Kalam Azad inaugurated the three days events as the chief guest.
Thirteen cricket teams with a unique blend of ex-national players and avid cricket lovers who despite not being able to find time to play regular cricket are taking part in the beach cricket party. The teams are Cricketers (Ispahani) Royals (Acme), G-Team and Gladiators (Lafarge) are placed in Group A. Josephites (GDFSL), Ramblers (Fu-Wang), Partex, Millenium comprises of Group B while Group C consists of Commonwealth CC (Eastern Bank Ltd), FUCC (Maximus), Cavalier (PHP), Rengadesand Aamra.
In the inaugural day, Josephites scored a thrilling three wicket win over Millinum. Josephites asked to field first restricted Millinium to 38 for four wickets in four overs. In reply Josephites strolled to 39 for two wickets in 3.4 overs.
In the day's second match, Ascent Royals also chalked out an exciting seven runs win over Gladiators at the same venue. Ascent rattled up 52 for four wickets in their allotted four overs and in reply Galdiators despite some valiant efforts saw them fell short by scoring 45 for one in 4 overs.
