Begum Rokeya Day observed in Faridpur

FARIDPUR, Dec 9 (BSS): International Day for preventing cruelty against women and birth anniversary of eminent feminist and forerunner of female education Begum Rokeya was observed here today in a befitting manner.
This year's slogan for this memorable day which is the both birth and demise day of Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain was titled as " Joyeetar Anneyshawney Bangladesh" a special programme was taken up by the government through Women Development Directorate.
In this connection a discussion meeting and award giving ceremony to five Joyeetas of this district was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner(DC) of Faridpur. ADC(Education & ICT) Md. Anowarul Islam was the chief guest while it was chaired by ADC(Rev) Dr. Md. Quamruzzaman Selim.
It may be mentioned here that the government has coined the term Joyeeta for the woman who has made special contributions to the society and the nation from very humble position through struggle.
