Education and Career Special | Thursday, 7 May 2015

Now-a-days Bangladeshi weddings are getting close to India big fat weddings. Mammoth decoration, lighting, cozy ambience, traditional food and another thing has been added to the tally, photography. It has become an integral part of wedding in Bangladesh. Now from when did it become so important? Photographer M R Rana says, "It's importance on any significant occasion is incalculable. Wedding is one of the most blessed events of a person's life and every moment deserves to be captured." M R Rana has made himself specialised in wedding photography. All the components and micro details on how to capture a moment and shape them have been perfectly cultured by him. He is a young face in this industry and has been serving clients for long.
One frequently asked question is how to be a photographer, a professional one. Mohammod Ali Anik is a Dhaka University student and has been working a freelancer, he is Chief Photographer of 'Moments De Mariage'. According to Anik, "Anyone with a fancy camera can click but you must have that 'wow factor' in you so that people get dazzled. Moreover, adequate knowledge on the basic is also a necessary." Now, as wedding photography has become an industry in Bangladesh the question comes who are the clients. M R Rana gives a smile while answering this question. He says, "Most of the times I travel across the city to cover multiple events at the same time." So opportunities are enormous. Do you need to have an expensive camera? M R Rana replies, "Not really. All you need is to have your focus, practice clicking random as much as you can and start with an easygoing machine."
Wedding photography has become a full fledged service. Like other services a shutterbug needs to be present during the event, cover the entire event, take client preferred photos and deliver the photos on time. So the question is, how imperative  itis to serve the client best. Anik replies, "Customer is believed to be the king. Hence it is absolutely essential to serve them with professionalism." M R Rana adds, "Well, few things are necessary in order to ensure a smooth customer service in this case and they are: Have a smile, be punctual and be committed to what you are doing." The degree of professionalism has to be there according to these fresh shutterbugs.
Final question was whether it was easy for developing a career here. M R Rana answers, "It never was. The society only praises those who are successful in the conventional career path. The adversity starts from home. But if you are smart and quick enough to understand the business, you are fit to sustain. It is such an industry where competitors are always menacing and you are vulnerable to failure if you do not have your uniqueness." Those of you who are interested, just come out with your camera, click, learn and capture moments of life because you may not have a second chance.
