Benapole immigration centre busy handling holidaymakers

BENAPOLE, Aug 18: Benapole Land Port Immigration Centre is passing busy time handling holidaymakers arriving from and departing for India.
With the end of Eid holidays, thousands of visitors started flocking to Bangladesh through this land port.
According to the immigration office, a large number of people began to arrive in Bangladesh from Saturday.
Around 7,500 people entered Bangladesh on Saturday after visiting India. On Sunday, as many as 5,000 people returned.
Immigration office sources said visitors started departing the country for India from one week before the Eid day.
And for about two weeks, about 7,000 to 8,000 people went to India per day.
Immigration officer Mohammed Abul Bashar Mia said before and after two Eids, Durga Puja and after examinations in November, a good number of people go to India through the land port.
Generally, 2,500 to 3,000 people arrive and depart through Benapole border daily.
