BENAPOLE: Benapole port and customs will remain open on the two weekly holidays until Eid-ul-Fitr to facilitate the import of essentials.
Assistant commissioner of Benapole customs house Mohammad Mahbub Hasan said normal activities of the port and the customs will continue on Fridays and Saturdays from today for uninterrupted import of the daily essentials to keep their prices under control during the fasting month of Ramadan, according to a news agency.
The decision has been taken as per an order issued by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) on June 23, he said.
Benapole C&F Agents’ Association president Mafizur Rahman Sujon said they’ve received a letter in this regard from the customs authority.
However, he said, the members of the association will not be attracted by this order if the port authorities continue to take the holiday charge.
