Bench reconstituted for Kamaruzzaman appeal hearing

The Appellate Division bench was reconstituted Sunday for hearing the appeal on the verdict pronounced by the trial court sentencing Jamaat-e-Islami leader Muhammad Kamaruzzaman to death for crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
The Chief Justice reconstituted the bench with four members with Justice SK Sinha as its head. The three other members are Justices Md Abdul Wahhab Miah, Md Imman Ali and AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury, according to a news agency.
On May 15, the five-member bench of the Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice M Muzammel Hossain, fixed Sunday for hearing the pending appeal. But, the hearing did not take place to maintain serial.
On May 9, 2013, International Crimes Tribunal-2 condemned M Kamaruzzaman to death for his crimes against humanity during the country’s Liberation War 43 years ago.
