BEPZA, Goldtex sign lease agreement

M/S Goldtex Limited, a sister concern of South China Group, is going to expand its project in the Dhaka Export Processing Zone. It may be mentioned that South China has four industrial units in Bangladesh EPZs.
The 100 per cent foreign-owned company will enhance its production capacity with an additional investment of $5.0 million. The total investment will now stand at nearly $15 million.
An agreement to this effect was singed between the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority and Goldtex Limited in the city Monday.
BEPZA Member (Investment Promotion) Prasanta Bhushan Barua and Goldtex Limited President Ngan Hung Tak signed the lease agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
BEPZA Executive Chairman Ashraf Abdullah Yusuf, Member (Engineering) Md Farhad Uddin, General Manager (Investment Promotion) AZM Azizur Rahman, DGM (Public Relations) Nazma Binte Alamgir, Manager (Industrial Relations) Md Abdus Sobhan and Dhaka EPZ PE and DGM Ashraful Kabir and Goldtex Executive Director Kort York Nam and Financial Director Mohammad Subaid Ali were also present on the occasion.
Goldtex will also create new job opportunities for 300 Bangladeshi nationals. Meanwhile, a total of 2000 Bangladeshi nationals are already working in this unit. The company will produce 36 million metres of different types of fabrics.
