BERC decision on power, gas tariff hike in 90 days

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) will deliver its verdict over the electricity and natural gas tariff hike proposals as per the commission regulations within 90 days, said a BERC official.
The energy regulator is now scrutinising relevant documents and proposals of the state-owned power and gas entities, opinions of stakeholders and reports of BERC technical evaluation committee, he said.
The BERC had organised public hearings on power tariff hike proposals from January 22-25 and gas tariff hike proposals from February 2-5.
The BERC Chairman AR Khan earlier assured people of taking decision on tariff hike of natural gas and electricity after proper scrutiny.
The Commission would make its decision independently without showing biasness to any of the stakeholders in power and gas sectors, he added.
