Berger accolades young artists

The 12th 'Berger Young Painters' Art Competition' prize giving ceremony was held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in the city recently.
Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited Managing Director Masih Ul Karim delivered the welcome speech at the function.
He said, "The stepping of the competition into its 12th year proves its significance in the world of art and culture. To encourage the young talents of art, Berger has always worked to organise this programme every year."
After the opening speech, the Life Time Achievement Award was given to eminent artist Qayyum Chowdhury for his overall contribution.
Since the beginning of his career in the 60's Qayyum Chowdhury has greatly influenced every aspect of art in our country. After receiving the Berger award, he said, "Inspiration always encourages an artist to start anew for another achievement."
The names of the six artists, who won the 12th Art Competition were announced by six renowned artists of the country.
Qayyum Chowdhury handed over the certificates and prize money to the winners, while Masih U1 Karim presented the winners with crests.
The winner of the first prize this year was Sahid Kazi. The other young painters who won the awards were: 2nd- Bishwajit Goswami, 3rd- Md Azmal Uddin, 4th- Srijib Bhattacharjee, 5th- AKM Jabed Rashel, 6th- Abu Kalam Sharnsuddin.
The programme was hosted by MC Badhan.
