Berger honours young architects

Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd (BPBL), in association with the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB), hosted a prize-giving ceremony of the Berger Award for Excellence in Architecture recently.
The event took place at a city hotel Monday, said a press release.
As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), Berger introduced the Young Architects' Award back in 2003, the first of its kind in Bangladesh.
To widen the horizon, this year the award was classified into two categories, namely the Berger Award for Excellence in Architecture and the Berger Young Architects' Award.
The winners for the Berger Award for Excellence in Architecture were Ar Md Rafiq Azam for the project 'Meghna Residence' (Residential), and Ar Khan Md Mustapha Khalid and Ar Mohammad Foyez Ullah for the project 'People's Insurance Bhaban' (Non-Residential), while the Commendation Award went to Ar Sheikh Ahsanullah Majumder for the project 'Weekend House' (Residential).
The Berger Young Architects Award went to Ar Patrick D'Rosario, Ar Salim Altaf Biplob and Ar Tamanna Sayeed for the project 'Bay's Galleria' (Non-residential).
On top of that, an award for the Logo Design of Berger Award for Excellence in Architecture was presented to Ar Noor Shahriar Bin Rahman.
The board of jury comprised accomplished architects including Ar Haroonur-Rashid, Prof Abul Barq Alvi, Ar Nahas Ahmed Khalil, Ar Golam Nasir, and AS Mushtaq Ahmed.
The crests were presented by BPBL Managing Director Masih ul Karim.
Among others, President of IAB Mobasher Hossain, and Director Operations of BPBL Rupali Chowdhury attended the function.
Besides architects, developers, eminent personalities and officials of Berger were also present on the occasion.
