Berger Paints tops turnover chart

First ever stock dividend recommended

Berger Paints Bangladesh topped the turnover chart on Sunday after recommending the first ever stock dividend for its shareholders.
The company grabbed the top position in the scrip-wise turnover chart of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on the day.
Berger Paints Bangladesh featured a turnover of above Tk 378.21 million which was 8.5 per cent of the total market turnover.
Total turnover of the prime bourse was above Tk 4.45 billion.
The company's share trading closed at Tk 2594.10 with a loss of 2.32 per cent or Tk 61 per share on Sunday.
Some 148,191 shares were traded through 3,524 trades and the market capitalisation stood at above Tk 61.01 billion on the premier bourse.
On May 22 last, the company's board of directors recommended 200 per cent cash and 100 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on March 31, 2018.
The company recommended stock dividend for its shareholders for the first time.
Following the declaration of dividend, the share price of Berger Paints Bangladesh rose 42 per cent or Tk 865 each to close at Tk 2,915.10 on May 22 last.
According to DSE information, the company's sponsor-directors hold 95 per cent shares.
The institutions hold 2.54 per cent shares, foreigners 2.10 per cent and general public 0.36 per cent.
Berger Paints Bangladesh, presently an 'A' category company, was listed on the stock exchanges in 2006.
