The awards have been introduced to assess the popularity of the airlines in the country, to judge their service standards and to create a competitive atmosphere among them, which would ultimately benefit the travelling people.
AKTEL has agreed in principle to act as the title sponsor of the award that would be named 'Monitor-AKTEL Airline of the Year Award - 2007.'
The Westin Dhaka and Galileo Bangladesh will also support the initiative, whereas Channel-I and ICE Today will be the media partners.
The Bangladesh Monitor Editor Kazi Wahidul Alam formally declared launching of the awards at a press conference at The Westin Dhaka recently.
AKTEL Head of Corporate Affairs Javed Tariq, The Westin Dhaka General Manager San Amalan and Galileo Bangladesh General Sales Manager Tofael Ibne Solaiman were also present on the occasion.
