Best brand award unveiled

Bangladesh Brand Forum (BBF) hosted the Best Brand Award 2010 last week at a city hotel. It was an evening of extravaganza and glitter where some of the best brands of Bangladesh were recognised for winning consumers' devotion and love. Nielsen Bangladesh Limited did an extensive research to identify the winning brands. The survey was designed to find the consumer insights, success stories and the market position of the brands. This research was conducted in December 2010. Awards were given to the best brands in different categories like University, Hospital, FMCG (Packaged Food, Toiletries, and Beverage), Mobile Phone Service Provider, Consumer Electronics and Mobile Hand Set etc. Nokia for the second time in a row was awarded as the number one brand of the country. Also in the mobile handset category, Nokia took the top prize as the number one brand. Nokia is a global company with majority market share in the Bangladesh market. Nokia is the most trusted handset company in Bangladesh and appeals to both the high end and low end market. Lux was awarded the number two position. Along with that in the toilet soap category, Lux was awarded as the Top Brand. Lux has always been a timeless product which appeals to both the elite and the grass root level people. Over the years Lux has been defined and redefined in different colors, flavors and packaging. This continuous redefinition of the product has kept consumers interested, excited and loyal towards Lux. Grameenphone the largest mobile operator in the country was awarded with the third postion. Grameenphone also took the top position in the mobile phone category. Grameenphone has the largest market share in the country and is trusted for their service and extensive network coverage. BBF is an initiative pursuing to promote the concept of branding as a strategy towards building the business ethos of Bangladesh. BBF and Nielsen Bangladesh have jointly been initiating "Best Brand Award" since 2008. The Award aims to demonstrate to the business community that brands are intrinsic part of the organization and in many cases the single most valuable asset. The platform for best brands is thus formed to recognize the successes of business community of Bangladesh and portray their achievements. Best Brand award was attended by Prof Syed Ferhat Anwar, Chief Advisor Bangladesh Brand Forum, Visual Artist Preema Nazia Andaleeb, Advisor Bangladesh Brand Forum, Dr Khalid Hasan, MD , Nielsen Bangladesh , Shariful Islam, Founder, Bangladesh Brand Forum and many dignitaries from the business community, to celebrate the achievements of the Corporate Bangladesh and Brands. It was a glorious evening for Bangladesh Brand Forum to showcase the Best Brands of Bangladesh. Many other brands took the top prize in their category. The final Top 20 Best Brands of 2010 are Nokia, Lux, Grameenphone, Sunsilk, Parachute, 7-Up, Sony, Close Up Toothpaste, Fair and Lovely Multivitamin Fairness Cream, Wheel Powder, Banglalink, Rupchada Soyabean, Teer Atta Maida Suzi, Pepsodent Germi Check Toothpaste, Maggie Noodles, Clear, Teer Soyabean, Lifebuoy, Wheel Power White, Pepsodent Toothpowder.
