Wednesday, 2 September 2015

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have been asked to prevent smuggling of cattle hides during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, the second biggest religious festival of Muslims. The order has been issued during a meeting held to review the law and order ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said they have asked the BGB and other law enforcing agencies to prevent the smuggling of hides of sacrificial animals during and after the Eid-ul-Azha. According to the minister, the order was made to protect hides as leather is the country’s second largest industry. Moreover, the law enforcing agencies were also asked to help control the prices of onion and other spices. Police and other law enforcement agencies have been asked to work together with commerce ministry to keep onion and spice-carrying vehicles plying smoothly across the country.
