BGB, BSF agree on stopping intrusion, drug trafficking

A Battalion Commander level meeting between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) of India has been held discussing ways and means on how to stopping drug trafficking and trespass. An 18-member BGB team, headed by 37 BGB Battalion Commander Lt Col Anwar-ul-Alam attended the meeting, held near Harudanga BSF camp opposite to Char Mazar Diar BGB outpost under Paba Upazila of Rajshahi district on Monday afternoon. An 18-member Indian BSF team, headed by 130 BSF Battalion Commandant Shree Raj Kumar, participated in the 3-hour-long meeting. BGB officials in Rajshahi said on Tuesday morning the meeting was held in a congenial atmosphere where illegal intrusion of people crossing the borderline, controlling of drug peddling and stoppage of border killings got top priorities. Discussion was also held on stoppage of physical torture on Bangladeshis by BSF, checking of smuggling and other bilateral border related issues in an amicable environment. The BSF was determined to check border killing at the border line, meeting sources said, according to BSS.
