BGB-BSF begin joint patrol along Benapole

BENAPOLE, Jan 22 (UNB): Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Boarder Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday began joint patrol on their respective side along Putkhali border here to curb trans-border crimes such as killing of Bangladeshis by BSF and smuggling.
Sheikh Fayek Uddin, Putkhali camp commander of 23 BGB Battalion, said the daylong joint patrol by the border guards began today (Tuesday) from near 118 RB pillar of Putkhali Paschimpara with the exchange of sweets.
A seven-member BGB team, led by Sheikh Fayek, and another seven-member team, headed by sub-inspector Ganesh Prashad, commander of Aungrail BSF camp, took part in the joint patrol.
Again, another daylong joint border patrol will took place along the same border on Thursday (Jan 24), said the sources.
The decision to hold joint border patrol came from several meetings of officials of the Foreign and Home Ministries of the two countries, apparently intended to restore peace along the borders and maintain friendly relations between the two countries, said Sheikh Fayek.
