BGB deployed in panic-stricken N\\\'ganj

Ten platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) troops have been deployed in Narayanganj city and Siddhirganj area amid growing panic among local people following the recovery of bodies of seven abductees in two rivers on Wednesday and Thursday. BGB personnel were seen patrolling different roads, including the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway, in the two areas. Earlier on Sunday, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver, were abducted by miscreants from Fatullah area of the city. Hours after their abduction, senior lawyer at district Judge’s Court Chandan Kumar Sarker and his driver were also abducted while they were going to Dhaka city. Two days into their abduction, the bodies of six people, including that of Nazrul and Chandan Kumar, were recovered from Shitalakhya and Dhaleshwari Rivers in Narayanganj on Wednesday. Besides, another body, believed to be of Jahangir, the car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the Shitalakhya River on Thursday morning. The abduction spree and recovery of the bodies of the victims have sent a panic wave in Narayanganj city and its adjoining areas, according to a news agency.
