BGB destroys Tk 13.22b drugs in Cox's Bazar

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has destroyed contraband drugs worth over Tk 13.22 billion (Tk 1,322 crore) in Cox's Bazar, according to an official statement issued on Wednesday.
Among the seized and destroyed contraband were 20,033,949 Yaba tablets, 140.049 kg of crystal meth (ice), 25.998 kg of heroin, 4.405 kg of cocaine, 52.8 kg of hemp, 4 kg of opium (afeem), 61,491 cans of beer, 22,155 bottles of liquor, two bottles of whisky, 1,799.3 litres of locally brewed alcohol, 169 bottles of Phensedyl, 192 cans of energy drinks, 540 drug pots, 337,642 cigarette packets, and 800 tablets of other narcotics.
The destruction ceremony was attended by BGB Cox's Bazar Region Commander Brigadier General Aksar Khan, BGB Ramu Sector Commander Colonel Md Mohiuddin Ahmed, RAB-15 Commander Lt Colonel Kamrul Hasan, Cox's Bazar Superintendent of Police Saifuddin Shaheen, and Additional District Magistrate Shahidul Alam.
Addressing the event, Brigadier General Aksar Khan emphasised that drugs are a "silent killer," posing a serious threat to social stability, public safety, and the economic stability in Bangladesh.
