BGB destroys Tk 19.3 million narcotics in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Oct 1: A large quantity of seized narcotics worth of Tk 19.3 million was destroyed at the Headquarters of Border Guard Bangladesh, 37 Battalion of Rajshahi on Tuesday morning.
The drugs include 29,644 bottles of Phensidyl, 942 bottles of wine ( Indian and foreign), 37 kilogramme local wine, 87 kilogramme of hemp, Seven kilogramme of heroin, two kilogramme of opium and 66 bottles of Speed Energy drinks.
In presence of Colonel Ferdoushul Shahab, Sector Commander of BGB, Rajshahi, Lieutenant Colonel Anwar-ul-Alam, Commander of 37 battalion of BGB Rajshahi, Fazle Rabbi, Additional District Magistrate, Authorities of Narcotics Control Department of Rajshahi and journalists of electronics and print media the drugs were destroyed.
After the destruction programme of the narcotics, a view-exchange meeting with journalists at Sector Commander HQ of 37 'battalion was held.  Colonel Ferdoushul Shahab, Sector Commander of BGB, Rajshahi, said journalists are conscience of our nation and mirror of our society because they expose our faults.
So, we should hold a positive view to media. He assured, BGB will provide all information necessary for the journalists.
"We strengthened our patrolling at all frontier areas under Rajshahi, BGB to stop drug smuggling,women and child trafficking and checking any sort of trespassing. BGB members maintains zero tolerance about drug smuggling", said Colonel Shahab.
