BGB jawan shot as Myanmar border police fire across border

A patrol team of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) reportedly came under attack by Myanmar's border force in Teknaf upazila of Cox`s Bazar district on Wednesday. A reliable source at the Teknaf BGB camp under the Cox's Bazar-based BGB 42 Battalion said, Myanmar’s Border Guard Police (BGP) opened fire on a BGB team when it was patrolling Naf River in a trawler early in the morning on Wednesday leaving a soldier injured. BGB 42 Battalion sources and local people said the incident took place in Naf River in Teknaf’s Jadimura frontier. A BGB jawan was wounded when BGP men opened fire from across Jadimura border point around 8:00am. Witnesses said the Myanmar border security force fired at Jadimura Point of Naf River on Wednesday morning targetting a BGB river patrol team, leaving a BGB man injured by bullets. The injured was identified as Biplab, 26, a BGB jawan (soldier). Biplob received bullet wounds in one of his hands and head during the firing. He was rescued and whisked off to Cox`s Bazar Sadar Hospiutal around 9:30am, they added, according to a news agency.
