BGB, Police, Ansar, C\\\'nawabganj win

Four teams-Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Ansar and Chapainawabganj DSA-reached the semifinals of the Exim Bank 24th National Men's Handball Championship beating their rivals in the quarterfinals at the Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the city Tuesday, reports UNB.
In the semifinals today (Wednesday), BGB will play Chapainawabganj DSA at 2:00 pm while Bangladesh Police will meet Bangladesh Ansar at 3:30 pm at the same venue.
In the day's (Tuesday) first quarterfinal, BGB beat Kushtia DSA by 54-22 goals after dominating the first half 28-13 in the morning. Imdadul and Bipul scored eight goals each for the winners while Sondhi, Nahid and Sourav netted five goals each for the losers.
In the 2nd quarterfinal, Bangladesh Police outplayed Madaripur DSA by 42-27 goals after leading the first session 21-13 in the morning. Mahbub contributed 12 goals and Russell 9 for the winners while Saiduzzaman scored match highest 16 goals and Riyad seven for the losers.
In the 3rd quarterfinal, Bangladesh Ansar stormed into the semifinal crushing Gopalganj DSA by 52-6 goals after dominating the first half 25-1 in the afternoon.
Rakib scored 10 goals and Asaduzzaman 9 for the winners while Rahat netted four goals for the losers.
In the 4th and last quarterfinal, Chapainawabganj DSA beat Chittagong DSA by 32-27 goals after leading the first session 17-12 in the late afternoon. Mizanur, Salahuddin and Omar netted six goals each for the winners while Dilshad and Sumon netted seven goals each for the losers.
Meanwhile, former captain of Rajshahi DSA Habibur Rahman Habib announced his retirement from competitive handball after playing his last game Monday. He played for Rajshahi from 1988 to 2014.
