BGB rescue 574 while being trafficked

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel rescued 424 women and 150 children in the last six months while they were being illegally trafficked through different points of the border. Some 173 cases were lodged in this connection and eleven traffickers were arrested during the period, according to an official release of BGB. The paramilitary force also arrested 751 persons on charges of smuggling and 14,877 cases were filed in this regard. They also held 3,909 people for trespassing. BGB personnel recovered a large quantity of smuggled goods and illegal drugs. They seized 6,93300 yaba tablets, 2,20,698 bottles of phensidyl, 1,15,480 bottles of foreign liquor, 4,530 litre local wine, 24,365 bottle beer, 3,983 kilogram cannabis, 3.71 kg heroin, 54,412 pieces of stimulating injection, 7,11,000 pieces of stimulating tablets and 46,540 pieces of other tablets. During the period, they also seized 48 pistols, six revolvers, 42 guns, 25 bombs of different kinds, 245 rounds of bullet of different types and three bottles of gun powder, according to a news agency.
