BGB seizes drugs worth about Tk800m

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel seized drugs worth Tk797.30 million during the last month conducting drives in different areas including border areas of the country. Of the seized drugs, 1,63,165 pieces were yaba tablets, 42,158 bottles of phensidyl, 875 kgs ganza, 18,104 bottle foreign liquors, one kg 500 grams of heroin, 1,54,268 pieces of stimulant tablet, 10,562 ampoules of drug injection and 13,45,192 pieces intoxicating tablets. The law enforcers also recovered 20,602 pieces of sarees, 9,434 three-pieces, one 1,80,436 meters plain cloth, 20,409 pieces of readymade garments, 458 different types of machine spares, 3,666 cft wood and 23 stone made statues during their drives. During its drives BGB also seized 8 pistols, one gun, two cocktails, 12 round of bullets and four magazines. The BGB arrested 140 people for their alleged involvement in smugglings and handed over them to police. A total of 2,872 cases were filed in these connections, According to a press release.
